Karaoke in Glasgow
Posted by michael on Thursday Jun 4, 2009 Under WatchSo while we were in Europe last January, our good friend Spencer came along and documented the trip. Here is a clip of what he shot in Glasgow on our day off there. We met some Glaswegians at a bar and they took us to a “real glaswegian bar with drinking and singing” We were worried about getting our ass kicked, but it ended up being a karaoke bar and was a hella fun. More to come from this trip soon!!!
Of Montreal: Glasgow Karaoke from Spenser Simrill, Jr. on Vimeo.
from the director:
“On January 25, 2009, Scotland celebrated the 250th birthday of Robert Burns, its national poet. Of Montreal had the day off in Glasgow, and so the band decided to check out the festivities, which concluded with Karaoke at a local bar. Most gracious Glaswegians, Dez and Charlie, bought round after round, as Davey, Michael, and BP belted out hit after hit. Incidentally, the night revealed a striking resemblance between Kevin Barnes and Robert Burns, two poets known for their unique mix of mirth and melancholy.”

I feel weird posting after BP (as a fan) but – this was really fun to watch! Gonna give it another view to hear what’s being said at the end. Sounds profound! More videos like this, please?

Can’t live if living is without you! Can’t believe Davey did that song! And BP doing the Buzzcocks! Man, not much I wouldn’t have done to be there when this was being filmed. Can’t wait to see the entire documentary!
